Big thanks to everyone that turned out the City Council meeting. The resolution supporting bicycle/pedestrian and mass transit accommodation on the new Paseo Bridge was passed. Special thanks to Councilman John Fairfield for sponsoring this resolution and for his instrumental role in keeping the bike/ped issue on the front burner of the Paseo project plannning. [...]
KCMO is rewriting all of their planning, zoning, and parking rules. This includes a large new section on bike parking requirements. Under the proposal, most businesses and public buildings would be required to provide a minimum number of bike parking spaces. More info here.

The suburb of Overland Park, KS is working on a bike plan for the city's northern half, including it's first consideration of on-road cycling. As of this week the KCATA has finished installing bike racks on all 20- and 40-foot Metro buses on fixed routes. This covers virtually everything but the short buses serving the MetroFlex routes.
